Better Late Than Never: Nail-Aween Challenge Days 8,9, & 10

This week was horribly busy for me!  In addition to my full-time job, I ended up having to write a report for work till midnight one night, made the kids' costumes, went Trick-or-Treating, and worked on my little Elf Coat business, so manicures were hard to come by.  But I did manage do my last 3 days of the Nail-Aween Challenge, but have just now had the chance to download the pics & do my post.  So here they are:

Day 8:  Witch Nail Art
This is a lovely no-name polish by Love & Beauty from Forever 21 stores, and I was surprised by how much I liked it...it totally reminds me of the night sky!

Day 9:  Pumpkin Mani
These are beautiful holographic polishes by Chirality called "Just Before Dawn" and "Katydid".  BTW, I found out that Chirality basically means "chemistry" ;-).  The green "Katydid" is a much more linear holo than "JBD", and "JBD" is the absolute perfect shade of orange!  This is 2 coats of each, and the formula was a dream to apply.  Buy your very own HERE.

Day 10:  Any Halloween-Inspired Mani
Yes, I took the easy way out, and used my previous mani for this one (I was busy!).  This is "Pickin' Punkins in the Patch" by Lacquistry, and it is super-gorgeous!!  Jenna has some polishes in stock as of this posting, so click HERE to get your very own glittery awesomeness!

This Challenge was certainly a challenge, and I had a lot of fun!  Many thanks to Sassy Nails for hosting it!

Nail-Aween Challenge Day 6: "Frankenstein"

I've been wanting to do THESE patchwork nails by Kayla Shevonne for a looong time.  And the stitches totally reminded me of Frankenstein, so this was the perfect opportunity to finally try this out!

I started with 3 Halloween-y colors:
Finger Paints "Beach Bound" (which makes NO sense to me), Sinful Colors "Big Daddy" (again with the nonsense), and NOPI "One Time Lime".  See that sticker announcing the "Perfect Stroke Brush"?  That's a horrible lie.  The brush is super-thick and is cut at a weird rounded angle.  No bueno, and one of the main reasons I shy away from any OPI-type polish.

OK, so I copied Kayla's patchwork template, and alternated it with its mirror image on each nail:

The perfectionist in me wants to pick this apart, but overall, I think it's a pretty cool effect.  I can certainly say that I am NEVER going to do a full patchwork mani like this again!  This was so time-consuming and nerve-wracking!  However, I will definitely do patchwork on accent nails, and I think practice will definitely make it better!  I am in awe of Kayla's mad skills, because her patchwork nails look fantastic!!

Nail-aween Nail Art Challenge - Day 1: Water Marble

I LOVE Halloween!  When I found this challenge hosted by Sassy Nails, I couldn't resist, especially since this challenge is done at your own pace!  It's perfect for a full-time working mom of 2 young boyos, who also likes to read & knit & sew!

As you can see, today is Day 1, and I actually did a water marble!  Only bummer is that I can't wear it to work tomorrow since we've got an audit going, and I have some other professional-like things to do. Boo!

I used all Sinful Colors for this one:
L to R: Clementine, Black on Black, Innocent, Amethyst

I painted on a coat of white (Sinful Colors "Snow Me White), and went to town:

I love the colors in this!  I wanted to use a darker green, but it wasn't working in the water marbling process...it wouldn't spread and it dried too fast :-(  My ring finger is just purple & green marble topped with my own little Halloween franken.  Overall, I'm happy with this one, except for the thumb, which I accidentally bumped :-/

These are the other cool peeps participating in the challenge.  Check 'em out!
